Events And People In Basketball

The father of basketball, Dr. James Naismith came up with the game in 1892 and the first game was played in Beaver Falls Pennsylvania on April 8 1893 between the New Brighton YMCA and the Geneva College.
The game was very popular and by 1914 as many as 360 colleges boasted basketball teams. In 1939, the first NCAA Men’s College Basketball Championship tournament was held which was won by the University of Oregon.

The formation of Pro basketball in 1896 came about from a dispute between YMCA team members and officials and ended in the members forming a professional team that played for money. In 1898, the NBL (National Basketball League) was formed and produced the first basketball stars – Ed Wachter and Barney Sedran.

The first two professional basketball teams to achieve success were the Buffalo Germans and the Celtics but during the 1930′s favorites included the New York Renaissance and the Harlem Globetrotters. During this time, womens

NIT Versus NCAA National Championship

From March 14th and for the next three weeks until April 3rd, 64 NCAA College Basketball teams will be performing after one common goal: to win the National Championship in Indianapolis.

The top four seeds in the NCAA tournament are Duke University in Durham, North Carolina; Villanova University in Villanova, Pennsylvania; the University of Connecticut and the University of Memphis.

In 1981 the NCAA wanted to increase the number of teams that would participate in this tournament from 48 to 64. The NIT declared they wouldn’t be able to hold a first rate post season tournament if this happened. Four years later the modification was accepted and since then there have been 64 teams on the bracket.

In 2001 the NIT filed an antitrust lawsuit claiming the NCAA was trying to put the NIT out of business. With the trial under way last year, the NCAA reached an agreement to buy the NIT and end the litigation.

College Basketball History Is Filled With Milestones

The next major landmark was the introduction of the five-player format. This happened on January 18, 1896 during an intercollegiate game in Iowa City. By the early 1900s, the game had spread to 90 colleges, most of them located in the East and Midwest. This number continued to swell and by 1914 as many as 360 colleges had introduced the game.

In 1915 the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States, the NCAA, and the YMCA joined hands to streamline the game, and set up a committee to frame rules. This period also saw the formation of a number of regional conferences.

The first NCAA Men’s College Basketball Championship tournament was held in Evanston in 1939, and was cheered by 5,500 basketball fans. It was organized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and was won by University of Oregon. After this, the NCAA took over the national basketball championship tournament.

The year 1940 witnessed the first college basketball game to be aired on

The Great Turnaround

It was February of 1980, at Madison Square Gardens during the height of the Cold War. It was there, that the U.S. Men’s Olympic Hockey team took on what experts considered the world’s best hockey team at the time: The U.S.S.R. It was an exhibition match meant to be a preview of the upcoming Olympics and the U.S. was trounced, 10-3.

Fast forward ten days later and after being given no chance by critics and fans alike, the United States men’s team pulled one of the biggest sporting upsets of all time by defeating the U.S.S.R., 4-2. That team would then go on to win the Olympic Gold Medal and their story would become known as the “Miracle on Ice.” So how did they do it? How did they go from being given no chance to pulling off the inconceivable? Some say it was one of those perfect moments when miracles happen. Others point to something more solid: the preparation. The Russians spent their practice days before the medal round sitting around, studying plays, and

227′s Youtube Ncaa Basketball Alumni-Syracuse-Carmelo Anthony-March Madness-Nba Denver Nuggets Action!

March Madness countdown: Illinois’ rally from 15 down with four minutes left to stun Arizona in the 2005 Elite Eight. It all adds up to the second-best NCAA tournament game of the decade. Clicking the button will upgrade your browser. Especially given the way the team has played recently it was very therapeutic. If you’re a Syracuse fan you definitely should buy this item. Especially the ones who expected victory 15 years ago with the NBA roster filled 87-88 squad with Derrick Coleman, Rony Seikaly, Billy Owens, and Sherman Douglas. For example, the dvd never stated the “One More Year” campaign started by Syracuse students in an attempt to bring back Anthony for one more season. From his first game at Madison Square Garden, to the Final Four tournament, the dvd gives a strong document of the on-court happenings. It’s definitely a sign for things to come for Carmelo and the Nugget organization alike.

Who Is The Cyber-Criminal?

In recent times, Nigerians have been tagged internet fraudsters or cyber-criminals. Sincere business proposals are turned down by potential business associates as soon as it is observed that the IP address originates from Nigeria.

In a country with purportedly the happiest people on earth, one of the most religious and stinking rich in human and natural resources, with its average citizen actually toiling it out daily to eke out, honestly in most cases, a living; it is a shocking but also an understandable allegation. Scam mails or any email’s origin can easily be identified through the internet protocol (IP) address. However, it takes two to tango. Rightly or wrongly tagged, Nigerians are just like the average earthling – faced with the vagaries of the reality of a nanosecond paced world. But how this has come to be is another matter entirely.

The internet arrived Nigeria quite late. As late as the late, late 90′s and the early 2000′s. Then, petty

Charice link to HD version www.youtube.com Charice sang a duet with Celine Dion in Madison Square Garden last Sept 15. ’08. Charice is a teen singing sensation discovered in YouTube. One of her dreams was to sing with her ultimate idol Celine Dion. This duet is a dream come true to her. She was 16 years old when they did this duet. This has excellent audio as I did my best to get one. This effort is my little contribution to help present Charice at her best, doing what she does best — SINGING. The crowd response captured in the audio might bother some viewers (sometimes you can’t hear Charice & Celine singing because of the loud applauses, roars, etc.) but it shows the major impact Charice made on the audience that magical and historic night. Thank you Celine for being gracious and letting Charice shine that night. Don’t forget to watch Celine’s very touching introduction for Charice before this duet. You can watch that video in my channel or this link: www.youtube.com This video has been rated #10 for the week of Sept 14-21, 2008 by PopTub Ratings Report www.youtube.com Please rate the video after watching. Thanks. Charice sang God Bless America in one of the Pre- Inaugural Balls for Pres. Obama. She received standing ovations. Please visit and subscribe to Charice’s own YouTube Channel www.youtube.com Please do not reupload this video to YouTube. This does not help Charice at all. Also, please do not use the audio from this video to dub other videos of Charice-Celine

Syracuse Orange 6-1 To Win The 2010 Ncaa Tournament

The Syracuse Orange emerged from being something of an afterthought that was considered to be a middle of the pack Big East team to a conference champion and now a +600 betting favorite in March madness 2010 NCAA tournament odds. Syracuse did falter at the end of the season though which has scared off some of the gambling public’s money as they lost their regular season finale at Louisville and then lost their only game in the Big East tournament to the eventual runner up Georgetown. Syracuse still had an impressive college basketball betting season and are considered to be one of the favorites to make the Final Four in 2010 NCAA tournament odds.

Syracuse enters March madness odds with a record of 28-4 straight up on the season and 18-9 against the spread as favorites. The Orange did their best work on the road going 10-2 against the spread while going 14-9 as favorites and 3-0 against the spread as an underdog on the road. In winning the Big

Ncaa Tournament Predictions: Villanova Wildcats 20-1

After spending the majority of the season as one of the elite favorites to make the Final Four, the Villanova Wildcats stumbled badly down the stretch with 5 straight up losses in their last 7 games to damage their credibility in NCAA basketball bracket 2010 predictions and enter the big dance with odds of 20-1. What made matters even worse in the eyes of many sports handicappers, was the fact that Villanova failed to cover the spread in 8 out of their last 11 games driving their value down heading into March madness odds.

Villanova will put on their dance shoes with a mark of 24-7 straight up and 18-12 against the spread as they were one of the biggest money makers in college basketball odds before their collapse late in the season as the increased exposure to the late coming band wagon jumpers decimated their value. The Wildcats were 7-5 against the spread away from home and went OVER the total in 18 out of their 30 games including an away
