What Is Tinnitus?

For those who have visited Madison Square Garden in the New York City to hear Beethoven’s Symphony No.5 in C minor on a New Year’s Eve, the music must have remained with them for a few brief minutes even after it had stopped playing in the vast arena. Well, this is quite normal. Beethoven’s composition lingers long in the ears after the music has actually stopped. But if that continues till the next morning and persists thereafter that calls for a medical check up which will invariably diagnose it as a case of Tinnitus. And there is nothing outstanding or exceptional about it since millions of Americans suffer from Tinnitus and they keep suffering since no cure for tinnitus has yet been found.

Even though the word has been derived from the Latin expression tinnitus, which means‘ringing’, the sound heard by the affected person vary a lot. It may range from hissing, whooshing, ticking, clicking to humming, droning, whining and buzzing. In short, it is enough to

?10 Absolut & Hova

ABSOLUT’s recent creation of a “behind the scenes” documentary on rapper Jay-Z has created an artist-brand marriage that is impressive in its strategy. From a marketing standpoint, the deal is a knockout for two reasons: 1) Jay-Z is an excellent fit as an ABSOLUT celebrity endorser and 2) It follows a sound blueprint for branded entertainment.  The documentary, titled NY-Z and filmed by Danny Clinch, will give an inside look at the legendary hip-hop artist, including a performance at Madison Square Garden.

In tapping Jay-Z, ABSOLUT has aligned itself with a true music icon, but more importantly he is an artist with brand relevancy. Jay-Z regaining his place atop the hip-hop kingdom is a recent development after what seemed to be the end of an illustrious career. A few years back, critics began to question whether Jay-Z had much left from his prime during the mid ‘90s. However, late in 2009 he released The Blueprint 3, which sold an estimated 476,000 copies

See Your City Through Film

March 28, 1995 Well, everybody knows this game. And I know there are other shorter versions of this game which are also excellent. Considering the circumstances, it is an extraordinary game even for Jordan’s standards. Also, it’s the game in which he declared he’s “really” back. So I wanted to make another version with more replays, more context, a post-game interview with Jordan, quotes, articles and so on. Since almost everything has already been said about this game, I’ll just point out a couple of quick things. First off, it should be mentioned that Riley’s 94-95 Knicks was the #1 defensive team in the NBA, measured by points allowed per possession. The only player who was able to score 40 or more points against the Knicks that season was young Shaq (41). Other than him, only 3 players managed to score 30 or more points at Madison Square Garden against the Knicks in the entire regular season. And here comes a guy who hasn’t played basketball for 18 months, scores 55 points on 21-37 shooting (57%) in just his fifth game, commits only two turnovers, and dishes out the game winning assist. Just too good to be true by any standards. One other thing is that there’s a crucial play towards the end of this game which is not included in most of the highlights. Jordan is about to sink another jumper over Starks 1:20 to go in the game. Ewing comes out to double and manages to block the shot with his fingertips. It’s very important because after the game Jordan said that play was

See Your City Through Film

If you are like most of America, you are sitting, or recently sat in front of the TV watching your favorite television series. Can you name the major city where your favorite TV series is filmed? It’s pretty likely New York attractions, Las Vegas attractions or Miami attractions featured in your favorite shows and movies! For the “CSI” (Crime Scene Investigation) faithful, you will know the series began in Las Vegas, Nevada. Las Vegas is the shooting location for all kinds of movies and big-name entertainers. Elvis performed in Vegas, and today greats like Celine Dion and Elton John perform at Caesar’s Palace almost every day. The number of Las Vegas attractions is off the charts. Movie fans can take city tours to find out where some of these famous features were filmed. Las Vegas isn’t the only big venue for movies; New York is the home of some of the best movie locations. It wasn’t long ago that King Kong hung from the top of the Empire State Building or Godzilla

New Facility Options for the Small Winemaker

New Facility Options for the Small Winemaker

The California wine boom continues with over 2,900 wineries in the state from San Diego to the Oregon border. With more Americans discovering that wine is part of a modern, healthy and enjoyable lifestyle, the appetite for wine continues to grow. Even with the recent economic downturn, wine consumption has increased and more people are getting into the business of making wine. This has created some problems, along with a solution.

The number of winemakers has grown faster than winery facility growth with many small producers sharing space with sometimes up to a dozen or more winemakers. Using these winery co-ops makes sense when starting out but small producers quickly learn that capacity issues cramp their ability to produce the highest quality product.

At harvest, fruit can come in all at once—with the resulting demand for equipment and space creating a critical operational issue.

The Rain Maker Sports: Sports Bytes – May 14, 2010

The Detroit Tigers pitching staff schooled the Yankees lineup this past week. Detroit won three of four, and shut out NY in two of those three wins. The Yanks were so bad that if you disregard their six-run, ninth inning in Game 3 of the series, they were held to only six runs in four games. I know NY has been hit hard by injuries, but those stats are pathetic nonetheless . . .

Can you imagine having a pitching staff with young lions Tyler Clippard and Stephen Strasburg as your #1 and #2 starters? The Nationals may have that by the All-Star break . . .

Somehow NY Yankees starter Phil Hughes has managed to maintain a 1.38 ERA in the American League . . .

As of Wednesday night, of the National League’s top-five Home Run Leaders only the Mets’ Rod Barajas had fewer than 100 at-bats . . .

NFL.com posted an interesting poll asking, “Which NFC non-playoff team from last season has the best shot at reaching the postseason in 2010?”

Milestones in the History of College Basketball

Basketball is a favorite pastime of kids and adults alike. American kids grow up with dreams of earning scholarships and reaching fame in the college league.

Basketball owes its origin to Dr. James Naismith, who invented the sport in 1892. Before long, the popularity of the game caught on and it was being played in American colleges. The first official game involving a college team was played between Geneva College and the New Brighton YMCA in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania on April 8, 1893. On February 9, 1895, the first intercollegiate game was played between the Minnesota State School of Agriculture and Hamline College. Minnesota won that game, 9 to 3.

The introduction of the five-player format was the next major college basketball milestone. This happened during an intercollegiate game in Iowa City on January 18, 1896. By the early 1900s, the basketball was being played in ninety colleges, mostly in the East and Midwest. This number continued to
