Speed up Your Metabolism with Weight-Training

Weightlifting is one of the oldest and most popular sports and physical conditioning routines known to man. It is a test of pure strength, determination, and desire to attain almost superhuman physical form and abilities. As a competitive sport, weightlifting can be traced back to the routines performed by professional “strong men” of the early 19th century. However, ancient records from the Chou Dynasty which ruled China from 1050 B.C. to 256 B.C. indicated that weightlifting was already practiced during that time. During that time, military recruits were also required to pass tests of strength before being alowed to join the army.

In ancient Egypt, heavy bags of sand were lifted with one hand as a form of training. While there are no records of weightlifting competitions in Egypt, it is very likely that such contests took place. Although weightlifting was not included in the ancient Olympics, it seems to have been a popular sport in Athens and other

Lady Gaga Tickets ? She’s Got ‘Alejandro’ on Hand for Monster Ball Tour

It isn’t like Lady Gaga is starving for attention, but the eccentric pop songstress continues to take outlandish steps to keep everyone on their toes. The latest Gaga blip comes as news spreads that she’s hired fashion photographer Steven Klein to direct her latest music video. The “Alejandro” shoot will take an avant-garde approach to both fashion and music, debunking rumors from March that it would be a continuation of her Beyonce collaboration in “Telephone.”

Even without a video, “Alejandro” is getting major YouTube time thanks to her recent American Idol performance, which showcased her dancing skills but also her knack for drama. Gaga took to her Twitter page following the show after Idol cut off about a minute and a half from the performance; While the dramatic interpretative dance still lasted five minutes, Gaga was not happy, writing, “FOX POORLY + AMATEURLY edited + cut my performance/musical arrangement on idol [sic].” Still, Gaga managed to rock the

The Rain Maker Sports: Sports Bytes – May 27, 2010

You can’t make this stuff up. According to the NY Post disgruntled Washington Redskins DE Albert Haynesworth is being sued by an exotic dancer who claims that he impregnated her and has avoided her ever since. The dancer is demanding million, in part to cover the medical bills associated with the pregnancy. How’s this for irony? Haynesworth played for the Tennessee Titans for seven seasons before signing with Washington. TITANS is also the name of a brand of condoms manufactured by a company named HUGE . . .

Why bother? Polish heavyweight Tomas Adamek, fresh off his impressive victory over Chris Arreola, is scheduled to return to the ring on August 21 against Michael Grant. How pointless is this fight? Grant hasn’t won a meaningful bout since he beat Andrew Golota in 1999 . . . Rumor has it that after Adamek disposes of Grant he may fight Ron Lyle . . .

The Red Sox completed their manhandling of the AL East leading Rays with an 11-3 drubbing

NBA Tickets ? An Early List of Potential LeBron Destinations

Nobody sells more <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://www.stubhub.com/nba-tickets/”>NBA tickets</a> than LeBron James.  He’s the best player in the league and could ultimately go down as the best player to ever step onto a basketball court, but that won’t happen unless he becomes a champion.  James has spent the last two regular seasons leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to the best record in the Eastern Conference, but the team has folded in the postseason both times.  James is now set to become a free agent and could look to leave town if he sees more opportunity elsewhere.  It’s still early, but it seems as though five teams are in the mix for King James’ services.

Cleveland Cavaliers: People seems to be counting them out of the race due to the emotional nature in which the Cavs were bounced from the playoffs, but after James has some time to sort things out

Manchester ? Popchester!

Manchester’s long and distinguished roster of world-famous pop music stars and superstars has been a great source of pride among local Mancunians, especially since it gives some indication of the prominent role that the city’s musical heritage plays in the world music scene.

As early as the sixties and seventies, Manchester boasted several popular groups like The Hollies, The Bee Gees and 10cc. In addition, the BBC recorded the popular TV show “Top of the Pops” in the city, which was another reason to be proud of the local music scene. Several original members of The Hollies, founded in the early sixties, were raised in Manchester and nearby communities. Often called the British Everly Brothers, The Hollies’ rich harmonies rivalled those of the Beach Boys. Of course, the trio known as the Bee Gees is one of the most successful musical acts of all time, with total sales of over 180 million albums. By now, everyone knows that the Bee Gees

New York Knicks Tickets – Are They Actually Coming To Life?

New York Knicks tickets were always nearly impossible to find for many reasons. They play at one of the most famous venues in the world in Madison Square Garden. The culture of New York City exudes basketball. The stars would love to be seen at a Knicks game. Oh, and one final thing – the Knicks were almost always good.

Of course, last year was one of the biggest disasters in the history of the entire NBA, let alone just the Knicks. Coach Larry Brown failed miserably in his attempt to mold what many felt was a misfit roster into winners, and the team tanked badly. Brown did not get along with his players or with management, and he was sent packing after only one season.

This led to what basically amounted to an ultimatum from owner James Dolan. He installed Isiah Thomas as coach, and told him he had a year to turn things around or he’d be joining Brown in the unemployment line. Of course, no one thought he’d actually improve

Miguel Cotto vs Yuri Foreman Live Stream | Full Fight Online

Undefeated junior middleweight titleholder Yuri Foreman (28-0-0, 8 KOs) defends his crown against former 147-pound champ Miguel Angel Cotto (34-2-0, 27 KOs) in the “Stadium Slugfest.” The bout is the centerpiece of the first boxing card at the new Yankee Stadium, continuing the former Yankee Stadium’s long and proud tradition as one of the world’s premier boxing venues. The ring, along with thousands of additional seats, will be set up in right field for what promises to be a memorable night for the sweet science.

A Belarusian-born, Israeli-raised, Orthodox Jew who now makes his home in Brooklyn, the 29-year-old Foreman fights with a compelling combination of heart and determination, delivering in-and-out combinations that often leave opponents frustrated. His formidable stature and enormously long reach allow him to shrink the ring and keep opponents on their heels. Foreman is coming off a near-perfect fight last November when he defeated reigning

It is for those of you who are in quest of a NY travel deal that this article is written.

In most substantial cities (including New York City) around the world, there is a little known secret that will help you glean a fantastic way to retain cash on your next trip to NYC. This lesser known New York travel deal is a hostel.

A hostel is a low budget accommodation that usually caters to a fun, uncomplicated traveler. A quality description is a cross between a Bed & Breakfast establishment and a dorm.

Some are located in renovated townhomes in The City, some are located in YMCAs, and some are cozy guesthouses. Some are in residential areas, while some are positioned in the

Why NYC Is More Than A

Why NYC Is More Than A

I was once listening to German tourists in Canada talk about the United States. They were explaining all the things that they didn’t like about the U.S. They said New York was the exception. They said New York had culture. New York had a European feel to it. They said Europeans would always like New York because of its cultural element. Having traveled extensively in European cities, spending so much money to do very little, I was thinking to myself that they were flattering themselves. There is no European city that is anything like New York. Yes there are fascinating cities in Europe, old cities with so much culture and history, cities that can not be compared to anywhere else, but with a New York feel? I don’t think so.

New York City can not be compared to any other city in the world. It is the most densely populated city in North America. It is home to the United Nations. It is made up of five famous boroughs; Manhattan, Brooklyn, The Bronx, Staten

Is Memory the Enemy of Learning?

Is Memory The Enemy of Learning?

Did you know that Cursive (connected letters), Printed Lettering, and

Spelling are being slowly eliminated? Many teachers in elementary schools have already stopped giving writing and spelling lessons leading to these ancient skills.

The use of our ubiquitous Word-Processor and Texting are the modern replacements, right?

Plato (not Mickey’s Dog)

In a dialogue by Plato called Phaedrus (15 BCE – 50 CE) Socrates says, “Theuth the Egyptian invented writing. The god, King Thamus suggested, ‘Writing would

only spoil Man’s memories and take away their understandings.’ Before writing

knowledge depended solely on a trained long-term memory. Did writing destroy memory as a learning tool?

So What

In ancient times memory
